A new study using a novel biomarker suggest that intensive blood pressure lowing does not cause true kidney damage. The study, co-authored by Michael G. Shlipak, MD, MPH, UCSF Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Associate Chief for Research Development at SFVAHC, represents major advancements in the understanding of whether kidney tissue damage accompanies the diagnosis of chronic kidney disease during hypertension therapy.
