November 30, 2015
The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) announced a major gift to establish the “amfAR Institute for HIV Cure Research,” which will be headquartered in UCSF’s Global Health and Clinical Sciences building at Mission Bay. NCIRE Board Member Paul Volberding will serve as the director of a new institute, which will support scientists at UCSF, the Gladstone Institute for Virology and Immunology, the Blood Systems Research Institute, and other academic partners who are at the forefront of the effort to develop a cure for HIV. We are fortunate to have such a distinguished colleague serve on the NCIRE Board of Directors.
